The Iowa Conservation Club is a new program for adults interested in outdoor recreation in and around Des Moines County, Iowa. Monthly activities include hiking, paddling, fishing, hunting, and shooting. Along the way, we learn how these activities relate to conservation.
Your $30 membership fee covers the cost of almost all activities scheduled for the year.

2019 KICK OFF SOCIAL
March 7, 2019
Meet local outdoor enthusiasts at The Drake in downtown Burlington. Help yourself to some appetizers and have a drink with friends. Learn about all the events planned for the year.
April 20, 2019
Learn to fish or show off your angling abilities as we kick off spring with an intro to fishing event. Des Moines County Conservation staff will teach you what you need to know from knot tying to hook baiting to handling what you catch.
April 24 & 27, 2019
Learn the basics of birding and join local birders on a morning birdwatching hike.

Help the conservation department clear brush from what may be an area never touched by a plow - a rare thing in Iowa.
FOREST IMPROVEMENT DAY
June 22, 2019
Spend the day working in the woods at Starr's Cave Park and Preserve removing invasive species that have taken up residence in the forest. Then join the team for lunch afterwards.

Geocaching is a modern day scavenger hunt. This course will teach you the basics of geocaching then turn you loose to find the hidden caches throughout the community.
PARK IMPROVEMENT DAY
August 24, 2019
Spend the day at Big Hollow Recreation Area helping conservation department staff improve trails and other park amenities. Then join the team for lunch afterward.
